Welcome to a private paradise!
Punta el Corral is located on 'the point' of the 3-mile long stretch of Troncones Beach located approximately 20 miles north of the airport in Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
It overlooks a challenging surf point where you can observe or participate depending on your abilities. There are wonderful tide pools that can be explored all day, but are especially delightful for floating in while enjoying a sunset cocktail. Bird watching and whale watching are favorite past times. And just around the corner from the tide pools lies Manzanilla Bay--a wonderful and safe beach for swimming or body surfing.

Punta el Corral is the perfect option for the couple looking for a small sized home and priced accordingly. Punta el Corral was built as our guesthouse back in 2000. Then we had plans to build a large main house, but couldn't afford to build it at the same time. Over the years, we realized it was just the perfect size for the two of us, and it was the only home around that offered that unique feature. So, in 2013, for the first time we are putting our private casa onto the rental market and looking to fill the niche of a small, but perfectly appointed home.
Our master bedroom has a comfortable, hotel quality king bed. It has one bathroom off the master bedroom that has a two sink vanity, regular toilet (no bidet), and a wonderful oversize shower head for a shower that looks out onto the beach!
Air conditioning is provided, as well as a large ceiling fan if you prefer. There are built-in floor to ceiling storage closets surrounding the master bedroom (which is round in design). The front door access is self-locking for security as well as the wooden pocket doors that lead to a private deck overlooking the beautiful garden. All linens are included - even beach towels. Linens are changed and general cleaning is provided every other day.
There is a built-in desk behind the bed and provides a place to work or write. There is also a direct landline telephone to make free local calls as well as a current copy of 'La Conexion', the Troncones Directory published by the Homeowners Association (APCAT) of which we are members. Wireless Internet access is included in the rental price and additional information is provided in the House Manual to assist in utilizing this service.
Next, you will take a set of steps outside the front door leading up to the kitchen and living area. Be prepared for a breathtaking view of the entire beach and a birds-eye view of everything happening around you. Sunsets are incredibly beautiful and personal. Our kitchen is equipped with all the items a gourmet chef would desire. A coffeepot and gourmet coffee will be awaiting your arrival. While there are no groceries/ATMs located on Troncones Beach, vegetables and fruits are peddled twice a week by a local purveyor, and fresh fish is often sold by villagers from nearby Majahua. There are many tiendas in the village that can provide basic items, and there is a liquor store as well.
There is a dining table with seating for 5, as well as a sofa that has a single (twin size) cushion suitable for accommodating one additional guest. There are air-chairs and plenty of seating for hosting sunset margaritas--or just enjoy it by yourself!
The property is plentiful (it consists of two lots) and you are welcome to enjoy the gardens and to use the outdoor barbeque pit. There is an outside shower for rinsing off after swimming in the ocean. We have a selection of boogie boards, snorkeling gear and swim socks available for your use. We also have reading material and several board games. There is a portable Bluetooth speaker player available for use.
If you arrive by car, there is plenty of free parking available on the property. The main stretch of beach is over three miles long so it can be quite a hike back and forth to the village. There are 'locals' available to transport you up and down the beach, as well as various taxis at reasonable prices for local transportation. It is also possible to rent bicycles close by if that is your preference.
Punta el Corral is located on 'the point', or the northern part of Troncones Beach. We are actually located on a stretch of the beach that is on a sub-road that comes off of the main road. Currently, our portion of the roads are dirt. There is a plan to pave our section of the road--but it always seems to be 'mañana'. Nonetheless, we are only 1000 feet from the entrance of The Inn on Manzanilla Bay--a wonderful B&B with excellent bar & restaurant offering live music once a week and a full bar with their own Big Boy blue agave tequila! Further down the beach on Manzanilla Bay you will find more restaurants--including Hacienda Eden. Excellent food and perfect accommodations for any friends looking to visit during your stay.
We have been coming to Troncones since 1992 and fell in love with it immediately. It is not a 'resort-like' experience, but rather a special kind of place for people who love the joy and simplicity of a small, Mexican beach village with some surprisingly good options for food and drink. We hope staying at Punta el Corral will cement your love for Troncones and find yourself returning again and again!
